Client: Outdoor Life Network
Every
Thursday the soundstage at Palace Digital Studios is
a buzz with exciting
cycling information leading up to the Tour de France.
OLN anchor talent, Bob Roll and Kirsten Gum, host "Road
to the Tour," a show which features OLN correspondants
embedded with Lance Armstrong's rivals such as Armstrong's
former teammates, Tyler Hamilton and Levi Leipheimer.
Each show, the correspondants report back what the rival
teams are doing to prepare for this year's Tour de France.
In
addition to providing (3) camera studio production,
Avid editorial and DBeta online editorial for "Road
to the Tour," Palace Digital Studios created a
graphics package for all interior support graphics.
OLN challenged Palace Digital Artist/Animator, Dan Chau,
to design and create animated graphics for 20 different
stages of the race, including the names of the stage
and the start to finish routes. As part of the graphics
package, Chau treated OLN supplied cycling footage with
an earthy color palette and created an AfterEffects
animation that cycles through all the team names and
team backgrounds, revealing the team being featured
each segment.
